Ebony (Diospyros spp.) acoustic guitar bridge blank showing deep black grain — graded AAA, AA, and A

Ebony Acoustic Guitar Bridge Blanks

£8.00
Grades

Among the most prized tonewoods in lutherie, Ebony is the benchmark for acoustic guitar bridges — delivering exceptional stiffness, density, and a crisp, articulate tonal response with outstanding sustain and definition. Its naturally smooth surface requires minimal finishing, making it a favourite of discerning luthiers worldwide.

Please note: truly jet black Ebony is exceptionally rare in nature. Some light colour flecks, streaking, or brown figuring are a natural characteristic of the species and are to be expected, particularly in lower grades. Our grading system reflects the degree of blackness — the higher the grade, the darker and more uniform the colouration.

Size Approx. 225mm x 41mm x 12.5mm

Available in three grades to suit every build:

Select (Grade AAA) — The closest to true jet black available, with the deepest, most uniform colouration, straight tight grain, and optimal density. Minimal light flecking. The finest cuts for high-end and professional instruments where visual impact and acoustic performance are equally paramount.

Premium (Grade AA) — Predominantly dark, near-black colouration with minor natural streaking or occasional light figuring. Excellent tonal characteristics and acoustically consistent. Ideal for professional and semi-professional builds.

Luthier's (Grade A) — Good dark base colour with more pronounced natural streaking, light flecks, or brown figuring. Acoustically sound, structurally stable, and correctly dimensioned. A practical choice for student builds, prototyping, or workshop use.

All blanks are sourced from verified, CITES-compliant supply chains.
